How to Build Your Own Solar Panel ?
In the 21st century, when the traditional sources of energy are drying out fast with the demand rising sky high, solar panels might turn out to be the life savers for us. The more days are passing by; people are realizing the importance of sun as one of the last resorts for the source of energy. Therefore, if you are planning to utilize this massive reddish giant shining right over your head as the primary source of power than I would say that is a very wise decision.
In order to store the solar energy and use it for your everyday work you will need solar panels. Now either you can buy a solar panel from the market or can build your very own piece right at your house. Here I am going to emphasize on how to build a solar panel all by yourself.
Now it is important to keep in mind that if you are living in the northern hemisphere then your solar panels should be faced south so that most of the sunlight can be utilized by the piece. On the other hand, the panel should be facing north if you are a residence in the southern hemisphere.
Building a solar panel is a fairly easy task and you should be able to do it by yourself with the help of some basic knowledge on carpentry. You can buy the necessary equipments and other materials for the job from a hardware store or even through eBay. Once you have gathered all the necessary materials, it is time to start with the mission- “Building your own Solar Panel for Energy”!
At first use the Rosin Flux pen to place the flux on top of the bus strips of the solar cells. This will ensure the proper adherence as well as connections in the wiring for the time when the tab ribbons are going to be soldered on the solar cells. The solar cells are needed to be connected with one another.
After that, the next thing you will need to do is place the cells on the plywood panel without using too much silicon (use of silicon should be minimized as much as possible). There should be two unattached wires that belong to the cells. The next step is to drill two holes into the plywood so that the wires can be fed through. Once that is done, use silicon to seal the remaining gaps that may exist around the holes.
Now you need to build the frame for your solar panel as they are required to be covered by Plexiglas. You need to stick the frame to the plywood board by using silicon and wood made screws and this has to be water resistant. Then you can place the Plexiglas on the frame by using silicon and the screws. Remember, silicon has to be used first which will be followed by screws. Another thing which is important to keep in mind is that the screw holes are needed to be drilled onto the Plexiglas before attaching it with the frame in order to avoid any cracks.
Scan through the solar panels for gaps and if you find some, seal them off with silicon. Do not allow even the smallest gap to be left alone or else moisture can cause trouble through this. However, moisture can still develop in the solar panels. The solution of that problem is to drill a small hole close to the bottom of the panel so that air can have access into the panel which will prevent moisture from building up fast in the solar panel. However, make sure that the hole that you are making for this purpose is away from the wiring.
Now this is the way to build solar panels all by yourself. Try out the process and utilize the solar energy efficiently in your everyday life.
